HELP WANTED!!! Please feel free to schedule a field trip for something YOU would like to do, and we'll help you get the word out! If you're unsure how to do it, phone me and I'll give you ideas! I don't have time to do much in the way of organizing, but I'm good at sending out info! I now e-mail 130 families, most from the Lake Arrowhead area. There's a perk to organizing...some places give away a certain number of tickets when groups come for free!

Mountains Christian Academy Homeschool Lending Library. At Mary's house near Grandview school. Yearly membership donation per family of $25 (free for Mountains Christian Academy families) will go towards purchasing materials for the library. I aim to stock what is unavailable at our local libraries and video stores. Please let me know if you're interested in membership or donating. Donations may waive membership fee. Videos are now online!!!

Friday, August 24, 2007 Raymond Alf Museum of Paleontology at 10 a.m. on the Webb Schools campus in Claremont (1 hour drive from Arrowhead, possibly less with the new 210 fwy!) 10 a.m., Friday, August 24

The trip is about 1-1.5 hour long, $2 each attendee. Tour is designed for grades 1-8.

Lunch afterwards if you want at the skatepark on Indian Hill north of Foothill, depending on the heat that day. Hard to say what the crowd will be
like at the skatepark, though... (Bring your own food, restrooms are not certain).

Please RSVP now! Limited space on this field trip, and I will undoubtedly be turning people down--this is a FABULOUS museum (not to mention Robin's alma mater).

NOTE: If you cannot handle evolution or old earth, this is not the field trip for you.

Mom's Night Out : please e-mail me if you are interested in this happening again. We used to go monthly to Borderline restaurant for Taco Tuesday.

Tuesdays, weather permitting: PE with Jenny Y at San Moritz Ball Field. If it's over 45 degrees with no rain, snow or mud, there's a good chance PE class is happening 2-4 p.m. Come have fun! Dress appropriately & bring a water bottle. It can be cold at the ball field

Mondays: Hello to all interested in the play group on Mondays. Thank you for showing interest in this group. It looks like we have quite a few from about 9 to 12 year olds. And a few 7 and 4 years olds. The more the merrier. And I am hoping if we get this going more will come. I will get back to you all in about a week with more info. By the way I am hoping for suggestions and help with activities. I have lots of experience with the younger ones, but little time (as most of you homeschooling parents can relate to). I have little experience with the older ones, so I am not sure what they would be interested in doing. I would also like to keep the younger ones separate from the older ones. Mountain Fifes & Drums: New recruits accepted each fall. 5th graders preferred for beginning. Get on the waiting list early!

Contact Sharon Carl about Park Days: We have been doing them an rotating locations, including Lake Silverwood, Lake Gregory, and Grass Valley Park. Check your e-mail DAILY during good weather--much of the time there is less than 24 hours notice.

Directions to Grass Valley Park:

From the 18, go north on Daly Canyon (as if you're heading to Blue Jay).
LEFT on 189 at first stop sign at Ultramar.
RIGHT on Grass Valley Road at Shell Station (only about 1/4 mile)
Go about 1.5 miles, you'll see the golf course on the left. Go just past the "REDUCED SPEED AHEAD" sign after the road bends to the right and turn--
LEFT on Golf Course Road.
LEFT into park at stone pillars at Tunnel Road (about 1 mile from Grass Valley Road
